A creative refuge

Crevasse 22

Located amid an enthralling river landscape, just southeast of New Orleans, Crevasse 22 art site is home to The River House art gallery and an outdoor Sculpture Garden. The site will soon expand its artistic offerings and break ground on a Creative Retreat named for the late Roberta L. Burns.

The Founders

As collectors and patrons of the arts Sidney D. Torres III and his wife, Roberta L. Burns, recognized the Poydras area as a source of outstanding natural beauty and inspiration. With conceptual and programmatic support from Jeanne Nathan at the Creative Alliance New Orleans they established Crevasse 22 to cultivate a gathering place for local communities to engage with the arts. Beyond the showcasing of artistic works, the site hopes to stimulate conversations about equitable environmental justice and ecological preservation.
